TERM 2 NEWSLETTER 2012
Welcome to all of our new Cheerleaders and Parents that have joined during Term One. Also a huge Congratulations needs to go to our Team New Zealand Representatives whom took Silver over the weekend in two divisions at the ICU Competition in Orlando, Florida making All Star New Zealand and New Zealand Cheerleaders Second in the World for Cheerleading.
We are in for a busy balance of this year so make sure you have all important dates marked in your diaries now. All Star Venom Cobraz leave in approximately 8 Weeks to be the first All Star New Zealand team to compete at the Aussie Gold Cheer & Dance Championships on the Gold Coast Australia; and our new Level 1+ Team Pythonz have started training in preparation for the Australasian Majors Championships in Brisbane on Saturday November 4th later this year.
Please use the Spectator Area when you are staying to watch practices. Please keep noise to a minimum when using this area and please do not call down to Cheerleaders or Coach’s. Please make sure that you leave it how you found it. Please also do not run or jump around whilst using the Spectator Area as the Office is directly underneath. Please note Cheerleaders are not to use this area unless instructed by their Coach.
IMPORTANT TERM DATE REMINDERS
All Stars’ General Recreation teams run on 9 week terms and generally no classes are run on public holidays. Semi-Elite & Elite Teams normally train for FULL Terms.
General Recreational & Level 1 and School Team Term Dates:
Term 2: Monday 23rd April – Saturday 23rd June. Please Note Stingrayz & Mantarayz have normal training on Friday 1st June. Term Two Fees Due by Monday 23rd April.
Term 3: Monday 16th July – Friday 29th September. Please Note Stingrayz has normal training on Friday 13th July. Term Three Fees Due by Monday 16th July.
Term 4: Monday 8th October – Saturday 15th December * Please note classes start back second week of October Holiday due Internationals Competition on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th October. Term Four Fees Due by Monday 8th October. All Teams will be training as per normal over Labour Weekend Friday 19th October, Saturday 20th & Monday 22nd October. Recreational Level 1B Teams finish training on Saturday 8th December
Elite Teams Level 2 & 3 Term Dates:
Term 2: Monday 16th April – Thursday 5th July Normal Rattlers & Scorpionz Practice Monday 4th June. Term Two Fees Due by Monday 16th April.
Term 3: Thursday 12th July – Friday 28Th September, Term Three Fees Due by Thursday 12th July.
Term 4: Monday 8th October – Thursday 20th December. Term Four Fees Due by Monday 8th October.

Rock’N’Cheer Nationals Sunday 24th June, North Shore Event Centre – Competition Fees Due 13th April or Late Fee will be charged.
Spring Carnival Sunday 16th September, ASB Stadium Kohimarama – Competition Fees Due 13th July or Late Fee will be charged.
Cheer’N’Dance Internationals Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th October , North Shore Event Centre – All Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 Teams will compete on both days. See Competition Information Pack for Further Information. – Competition Fees Due 20th September or Late Fee will be charged.

UNIFORM & CHEER GEAR ORDERS
All Cheerleaders require uniforms for competition and any public event. All Level 1and above Cheerleaders will require the new Competition Uniform plus Competition Bow. We are also asking that Cheerleaders wear required practice gear to all Team Trainings, please check your child’s Team Handbook or speak to your child’s coach for further information.
Please note: Orders are only placed on receiving FULL PAYMENT. Orders are not placed until payment is received, so both the uniform order and the payment must be received by the cut-off dates listed above.

Uniform Sizing:
If you are unsure of the uniform size you require, please call into the office to be sized. We ask that you arrive well before your practice should you require sizing for Uniforms or Cheer Gear. The Venom Office is open from 10.00am till approximately 6.00pm Monday to Friday and Saturdays 9.00am till 1.00pm. Coaches will be organizing times with their Teams outside of their Team Practices to assist in the sizing of items required for Cheerleaders.

Cut-off Date Friday 20th July for Delivery before Spring Carnival
Cut-off Date Friday 7th September for Delivery before Internationals
*Full Payment and Orders must be received for Order to be processed. Payments will be applied to Outstanding Term Fees Prior before Competition Uniform and Tracksuit Orders.
Cheer Gear Order Cut-off Dates 2012:
Cut-off Date Friday 20th July
Cut-off Date Friday 7th September – Cheerleaders Travelling to Australian Championships must have Cheer Gear Orders in by this date to receive prior to Australia Trip
Cut-off Date Friday 9th November – Cheerleaders attending Summer Camp 2013 must have Cheer Gear Orders in by this date to receive in time for Summer Camp

It is recommended that Recreational Cheerleaders and Level 1 Cheerleaders wishing to move up into a Higher Level team attend this program ready for Team Placements as they become available or after Credentialing on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th November.

LOST PROPERTY
We have a huge amount of Lost Property at the Gym at the moment!! To help sort this we have Order Forms available for NAME It Labels, part of the proceeds from the sales will also go towards Fundraising for the Gym. So please help us reduce the amount of lost property, raise funds for equipment, save you money and purchase some of these great products.
The current Lost Property will be donated to Charity at the end of Week Three of this Term, so please check for items that belong to your children.
ADDITIONAL CLASSES AVAILABLE:
We are happy to advise that we are still running additional Tumble Classes on Saturday’s. Please note these classes are to be taken as additional practice not as an alternative to your Normal Cheerleading Class.
Beginners/ Novice Tumble 10.30 – 12.00pm – Covers up to and including Level 1 Cheernastics $120.00* per Term
Level 2+ Tumble 12.00 – 1.30pm – Covers Level 2+ for Cheerleaders wishing to work on Advance Skills $120.00* per Term
Stunt and Tumble Safety Reminder
Please make sure you are not teaching your friends at home and school how to do these skills. This can be dangerous and cause injuries!! Bring them along to cheerleading if they want to join in. Also can all cheerleaders please NOT try and throw a tumble pass if you are not fully comfortable with the pass unless a coach is with you and spotting you. We are becoming close to competition and it will be a shame if you cannot compete because you have become injured.
COMPETITION INFORMATION
There were a number of changes made to the National Cheer Association Competitions last year following feedback and information from Overseas Judges. Competition Information Packs have been provided to Cheerleaders. All Level 1 and above teams will now compete both Saturday and Sunday of the All Star Internationals Competition. If you are unsure of anything please contact us on 09 948 5109.
Spectators will be able to purchase tickets for the Competitions from the All Star Venom office; further information will be provided as soon as possible.
FUNDRAISING
Thank you to those that have helped with the Gym Fundraising so far, the gym is looking amazing. We have lots of great fundraisers coming up to help Cheerleaders with costs towards Cheer Gear, Uniforms, Term Fees, Overseas Travel 2012 and Summer Camp 2013. Please support the Gym and Cheerleaders by participating and/or purchasing Fundraising items from the Gym and Cheerleaders.

NAME it Labels: These great little things will save you so much money looking at the pile of Lost Property we currently have at the gym. Look for Order Forms and Product Sheets at the gym or email us for a copy. ORDERS NEED TO BE RECEIVED WITH PAYMENT BY SATURDAY 5TH MAY.

Tuck Shop: We have a number of items now available from the Tuck Shop; please see posters at the gym for further information.
Sponsor Board: We would love to have some Gym or Team Sponsors for All Star Venom Cheerleaders. Sponsorship Contributions to the Gym would be used solely for the Upgrade and or Purchase of additional Equipment to enhance and help our Cheerleaders achieve their goals and ambitions within the Sport of Cheerleading. Team Sponsorship Contributions would be used solely for the designated Team towards Summer Camp or Overseas Travel. Sponsors would be mentioned in all Correspondence sent from the Gym, Sponsors Business Information would also be put on a Display so that Parents can easily access and support Sponsors in return.

BRING A FRIEND PROMOTION
We are still running the Bring a Friend promotion. Remember you can bring along family and friends to either your class or another class and when they join* you both receive $50.00 of your next terms fees. There is no limit on how many friends you bring! So start asking around.

HEALTH ISSUES
If you child has any significant health problems, please ensure that their Coach and the Office are made aware. This is very important!
WITHDRAWAL OF STUDENTS FROM PROGRAM
Should for any reason a Cheerleader wish or need to leave our program we require one month’s prior written notice as detailed on the Enrolment Form and also on each Terms Invoice. Notice can be emailed to ecb@allstarcheerleaders.co.nz and a reply email will be sent as confirmation for your records. You will be charged for a full term if notification is not received prior to Cheerleaders leaving the program.

Fast Track To Level 2+ Teams
All Star Venom Cheerleaders wishing to advance to Level 2 or Level 3 later this year when we hold our next trials for Elite Teams should be attending and enrolled in our Saturday Tumble Classes. These classes are to be attended in additional to your normal team training to advance your skills faster. Saturday Tumble classes at All Star Venom start back on Saturday 11th February with Novice/Level 1 10.30 - 12.00pm and Level 2+ from 12.00 - 1.30pm. Coaching Information Update
All Star Venom coach's have had a huge weekend this weekend attending the All Star Cheerleaders Yearly Coach's Conference. We have lots of new and exciting ideas and are very excited for the coming year. We also have some new coaching staff coming on board that new and additional skills that will make All Star Venom the best gym ever!! There are some additional competitions and events this year so make sure if you have friends that are interested in or would like to start Cheerleading that you bring them along over the next few weeks. Alternatively get them to contact us to book their Free First Class. We are very excited for our Level 3 Team who will be travelling to Australia for the first ever All Star Venom attendance at an overseas Competition. We are very excited for all our new Level 1 Teams, plus there is an opportunity for one of these great new teams to Travel later this year also to an Overseas Competition. Want Better Tumble??
Come along to one of our Saturday tumble classes!
Level 1 (Beginners tumble) 10.30-12.00
This class is for anyone wanting to improve basic tumble skills - rolls, cartwheels, round-offs and get that all important walkover!
Level 2 Tumble 12.00 -1.30
This is a more progressed class where you will learn and master front/back handsprings, round off back handsprings and begin to learn other cool tricks like front/back tucks, aerials and tumble combos.
Or you could book your very own private lesson!
Privates are a great opportunity to work one on one or in a small group with a coach and are available with Lio or Nicola. In these sessions you are able to work on any skills/goals that you wish to achieve within cheerleading. The cost of a private is set by the coach. You can choose the length of the lesson and to have it by yourself or with a group of up to 3 people. To book a private lesson you must also be enrolled in one of our specialty tumble classes listed above.
